Cultural traditions of the Terek Pomors and the indigenous people of the North—Sami—have been included in the register of Russia's intangible cultural heritage, according to the Ministry of Culture of the Murmansk Region. This is reported by Interfax.

'The State Russian House of Folk Art named after V.D. Polenov has added to the register Sami bone processing techniques, their traditional cuisine, as well as kozuli—the ritual cookies of the Pomors from the Terek coast,' the report says.

Earlier, during folklore expeditions, scientists from the Ural branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences visited various settlements in the Murmansk Region. They met with local residents, local historians and members of folklore groups.

On the Terek coast (the White Sea coast—IF), the researchers documented recruitment songs, kozuli legends, Pomor cuisine recipes and fishing folklore. While in Loparskaya and Lovozero, they recorded Sami game and ritual traditions,' noted in the Ministry of Culture of the Murmansk Region.

The main place of residence of the Sami people in the Murmansk Region is Lovozersky district and the Lovozero settlement. The local Northern National College teaches the trades of reindeer herder, homesteader, bone, antler and stone carving.
