Specialists from the Saint-Petersburg Electrotechnical University ETU 'LETI' have developed a device to track water transport movements in various water bodies, ranging from inland seas to Arctic regions. The Taimyr Telegraph reports this, citing the press service of the institution.

'We have created a marine information system: a hardware-software complex for simultaneous monitoring of different types of vessels in a single water area. The system gathers and analyses data from both onboard automatic information systems and a network of navigation radar stations, providing the operator with a real-time comprehensive view of the situation,' explained Vladimir Veremyev, Director of the Research Institute of Forecasting and Monitoring of Emergency Situations at Saint-Petersburg Electrotechnical University ETU 'LETI.'

He further explained that signal processing is carried out automatically using a digital processor and relevant software developed by LETI scientists, after which all the information is sent to the automated operator's workstation.

'This integrated system can be implemented in any water area's monitoring centre, from inland seas to the Arctic zone,' clarified Evgeny Vorobyev, senior researcher at the Prognoz Research Institute of ETU 'LETI.'
