The Yakutsk company Arctic Roads, which manages over half of the republic's winter roads, plans to begin construction of a new winter road in 2025. Nikolay Popov, First Deputy General Director and Chief Engineer of the company, reported this to TASS.

'Currently, our priority is to build a winter road with an extended lifespan along the route from Topolinoye in the Tomponsky district to Batagay in the Verkhoyansky district. Preparatory work for this project is already underway, and construction will start from the Batagay settlement towards the Bala settlement of Verkhoyansky district in 2025,' Popov stated.

He clarified that they plan to construct 15 km in the first year, with the total length of the winter road being 316 km. The work is expected to be carried out from 2025 to 2029, provided there is timely funding.

The First Deputy General Director reminded that winter roads in the region are operational from December to mid-April. With the new winter road, transportation between Yakutsk and Batagay will be possible as early as November.

Seasonal roads in Yakutia serve as a crucial transportation link to remote settlements. Every year, road services in Yakutia open more than 11,000 km of winter roads for the delivery of food, fuel, construction materials and other goods.
